Hello there and welcome to Napier and Hillcrest B&B. We are both retired and have been operating our bed & breakfast since 1993. We are keen New Zealand and international travellers and love meeting new people so we look forward to the pleasure of your company and ensuring your stay is as comfortable and memorable as possible.

Our careers were in teaching although Noel is a builder by trade. He moved from building into teaching woodwork while I taught a broad range of subjects including art. I taught overseas in Canada and Britain when I was younger and met some lovely people, many whom are still close friends today. Noel built this house and our holiday house at Mahia beach. He is still interested in woodwork and sometimes can be found in the garage wood turning bowls and knick knacks from native New Zealand timber. He is also a keen lawn bowls player.

My main interests include thimble collecting and tending to our garden. We still love to travel and this year I attended a thimble convention in Los Angeles. I am also an active member of our local Save the Children and a church group at Ahuriri.

We have one daughter -Ann, who lives in Sydney and has travelled and lived in London as I did. In Ann's last year at high school we had a Japanese exchange student stay with us for a year which was a very rewarding experience. Her name was Chikako and we have visited her in Japan and she has been back to Napier to get married to her husband Toshiyuki.
